News From the Friends

As the year ends, the Friends of the Library would like to remind everyone that dues are due after January 1, 2010.
As the ecomomy affects everyone in our community, it also affects the Library Budget. We have begun making plans for fundraising in 2010 and will need help in some of the undertakings. The first thing on the agenda is a Raffle in February. If anyone has anything they would like to donate as a prize please contact Donna at the library. The main item of the raffle is a quilt made by Donna Bubolz and Durham Herzog.
You may think about joining the Friends group. The mission of the Friends to fundraising for the library. But we also need people to volunteer in the library by assisting staff. Pictured is Lorna Saffron, a Friend and Library Board member volunteering at the annual Youth Art Month Reception.

Local History @ Your Library

Cub Scouts Dens 8 and 9 were given a local history lesson at Oconto Falls Community Library on November 19th. The Director, Joan Denis shared some history, the role of the river and logging with the boys and families. She showed the boys some historical photos of the river, the falls, and the town. Afterwards, John Funderburg had them practice their knot tying by building a raft. No test was given but one little boy would have failed when he asked if the Director took the photos!
